Hi there! It’s been well over a month since most of us departed BRC. If you're still thinking about divorcing your parakeet, you have our blessings. While the last of the dust settles, we'll share some ways you can bring the Burn back home. (In a literal sense, just below.) Do we have your life-sized unicorn head or your phone? Solid "maybe." There are hundreds of Lost & Found items waiting to be reunited with Black Rock Citizens. Pro-tip: next year, LABEL IT! If you’re anything like us, you’re loving the late season bumper crop of sumptuous Black Rock City photos and videos in your feeds. Now you can meet the shutterbugs of Burning Man’s Documentation team who make much of that magic happen. Answer the last call to support 2022 BRC artists. Data geeks and nerd-adjacents can get a sneak peek of preliminary Census results. And, hey! Procrastinators have been granted an extension to fill out your Census — the new deadline is October 20. Don’t let it pass you by! For life beyond the playa, get the scoop on Burning Man gatherings around the globe, and learn about our community’s hurricane relief projects. And this is your last chance to sign up for Trailblaze at the 360 property in Gerlach, a weekend event for all of you makers and builders of art, mutant vehicles, and infrastructure for Black Rock City and beyond.
Community Projects for Hurricane Response Hurricane Fiona and Hurricane Ian continue to affect millions through infrastructure damage, and loss of power, water, and other critical resources. Whether you need help or can offer support, see Burners Without Borders’ Fall 2022 Newsletter for a list of hurricane response resources and projects. Let’s Talk Nerdy: Preliminary Census Data + 2022 Deadline Extension Who loves data? You know you do. The BRC Census team has been busy crunching numbers from the first phase of data collection, gathered while Burners arrived in Black Rock City. Get a sneak peek at the numbers. (It's not too late to fill out the BRC 2022 Census! The new deadline is October 20.) Read more in the Burning Man Journal (Photo by Black Rock Yearbook)
Did You Lose Something at Burning Man This Year? Black Rock City's Lost and Found volunteers are oh-so-busy orchestrating happy reunions between participants and their MOOP. If you lost something tangible on playa (we won't be able to find your soul) start by reviewing the images at the link below. If you see your thing, file a claim with as many details as you can remember. And be patient. (Photo by by Gen Shib)
Black Rock City in a Maelstrom Roxane Jessi writes: “Slowly but surely the blank playa canvas came to life, splashed with its characteristic outpouring of color, eccentricity, and creativity. The whirr of power tools was replaced by megaphones beckoning (and heckling) passers-by to newly opened bars; trucks and cranes made way for the fleet of out-of-this-world art cars crisscrossing the playa; and dusty work attire was banished to the bottom of suitcases for exuberant costumes.” Read more in the Burning Man Journal Art: “The Art Park” by Olivia Steele, 2022 (Photo by Roxane Jessi)
A Space to be Completely Ourselves: Producing NYC’s 2022 Decompression Kirsten Weisenburger writes: “Just one month after many of us returned from Black Rock City (and let’s face it, some of our synapses are still a little dusty), New York City Burners threw their Decompression party — no small feat. I sat down with Shiny Galeani, Dreamy’s Lead Producer, to hear about her vision for the event…” Read more in the Burning Man Journal (Photo by Gurps Chawla)

Meet Burning Man’s Documentation Team Introducing the accomplished photojournalists and videographers who shoot the playa-tingle-inducing photos and videos we share throughout the year. Many have volunteered for Burning Man’s Documentation team for decades capturing playa antics, year-round events, and the humans who bring Burning Man culture to life. The Gift of Things Going Wrong — Recorded in Black Rock City! Black Rock City is a labor of love. When things go wrong — sometimes whimsically, sometimes devastatingly — we celebrate it as a chance to adapt. Hear resident philosopher Caveat Magister hold court in the chaos of BRC (with kbot, Motorbike Matt, Michael Vav and Brooke LaValley) on why spaces like BRC are practice grounds for new possibilities.
Black Rock City 2022 Artists Need Your Support Many artists are still fundraising to cover expenses from the awe-invoking and interactive creations they shared with us in Black Rock City 2022. Have a scroll through this page to see who needs a hand, and spread the word! (You can also support Burning Man Project here.) TrailBlaze — Gerlach, Nevada — October 14-16, 2022 Where: Gerlach, Nevada Join theme camp organizers, mutant vehicle owners, volunteers, and creators of all kinds at the 360 property for this weekend-long event to collaborate on projects, contribute to the local community, and spend time getting to know your fellow makers. The 360 is a residential village and maker space in Gerlach, Nevada, where camps, art and mutant vehicle crews can store and work year-round on their projects. Proximity to Black Rock City enables Burners to dramatically reduce both costs and use of fossil fuels to transport art and infrastructure to the playa. (Photo by John Curley)
